From Struggle to Strength: Josie Desgrand’s Inspiring Weight Loss Journey
A Teenage Struggle
At the tender age of 16, Josie Desgrand tipped the scales at 127 kilograms. Scrolling through her Instagram feed, the images of svelte models only deepened her despair. Despite numerous failed attempts at dieting, she found herself trapped in a vicious cycle of comfort eating and self-pity.
Adding to her troubles, she was a victim of bullying at school, exacerbating her distress. Speaking to Bored Panda, Josie shared the pivotal moment that propelled her to take action. “I went into my room and stripped down to my underwear,” she confessed, making a vow, “No more fat Josie.”
The Pledge for Change
She continued, “I captured images of myself from different angles, eager about embarking on a new weight loss journey. I used a measuring tape to note down my dimensions, fully aware that I had a long journey ahead due to my excessive weight. However, I was resolved to monitor every tiny shift.”

Josie began by setting manageable targets, adhered to a fitness routine, and diligently tracked her progress. As she started to observe transformations, she embraced a low-carb, no-sugar diet and increased her water intake.
A Family Affair
Her father, Mark, joined her in this challenge, turning it into a family endeavor of mutual support and encouragement. “Competing with my dad pushed us to strive harder. It was wonderful having him by my side throughout this journey,” Josie said.
Once she dropped down to 90 kilograms through healthier eating habits, she joined a gym. “Sticking to the exercise program gave me the extra motivation to achieve my weight goal,” she shared.
The Power of Social Media
Instagram became her source of inspiration and a platform to share her journey. Josie used her account, @nolongerfatjosie, to post updates about her meals and progress. Her follower count began to swell, with each new follower proving more supportive than the last.
Her dedication paid off and at 63 kilograms, she felt a sense of euphoria. At 18, she impressed friends and family with her stunning transformation, flaunting her new figure in a form-fitting dress.

“Today, I want to be the inspiration that propels people to get back on track. Everyone deserves to feel as happy as I do now,” she said, explaining her motivation to pen a book about her experience.
